Solitaire engagement rings have traditionally been worn by women since the mid 20th century. A Solitaire engagement ring setting has one single center stone. This was traditionally known as the Tiffany Setting introduced by Tiffany's in 1886. Solitaire Settings are a very popular diamond engagement ring with 4 or 6 prongs.  A four-prong setting shows more of the diamond, but a six-prong setting is often more secure. Solitaires do not have any "side" diamonds and are timeless and classic in styling.
